New Delhi: India has taken another step toward strengthening its position as a global hub for traditional wellness by bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and export stakeholders for a high-level brainstorming session focused on the future of the Ayush sector.

The Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and AYUSHEXCIL, organized a Government–Industry Brainstorming Session under the theme “Strengthening India’s Global Leadership in Traditional Wellness: Innovation, Quality, Exports and International Collaboration in the Ayush Sector.”

The meeting served as a platform for government officials and industry representatives to discuss strategies for enhancing the international presence of Indian traditional wellness products and services. Participants explored ways to improve product quality, encourage innovation, strengthen exports, and build stronger partnerships with global markets.

The session was attended by Anurag Singh Thakur (as referenced in the announcement), Department of Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, and Ministry of Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, who emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to increase the global competitiveness of India’s traditional wellness ecosystem.

Speakers highlighted that India’s centuries-old systems of traditional medicine—including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy—represent not only a rich cultural heritage but also an expanding economic opportunity in the international wellness industry.

A major focus of the discussions was the importance of innovation in developing high-quality Ayush products that meet evolving consumer expectations and international regulatory standards. Participants stressed that maintaining rigorous quality assurance and scientific validation will be essential for building confidence among overseas consumers and healthcare markets.

Brand development also featured prominently during the deliberations. Officials noted that establishing a strong and consistent global identity for Brand India Ayush could help position Indian wellness products as trusted offerings in an increasingly competitive international marketplace.

Export promotion was another key area of discussion. As global demand for natural health products, preventive healthcare solutions, herbal formulations, and holistic wellness services continues to grow, stakeholders examined strategies to help Indian manufacturers expand into new markets while strengthening existing trade relationships.

The session also underscored the importance of international collaboration through research partnerships, knowledge exchange, regulatory cooperation, and investment opportunities. Such collaborations, participants observed, can accelerate innovation while increasing the global acceptance of Ayush-based healthcare solutions.

Industry representatives shared perspectives on improving ease of doing business, enhancing manufacturing capabilities, supporting startups, and encouraging research-driven product development. These efforts are expected to contribute to a stronger ecosystem capable of competing in the rapidly expanding global wellness economy.

The brainstorming session reflects India’s broader vision of transforming the Ayush sector into a globally recognized pillar of healthcare, wellness, and economic growth. By combining traditional knowledge with modern innovation, quality standards, and international partnerships, policymakers aim to strengthen India’s leadership in holistic healthcare while expanding export opportunities for domestic enterprises.

As the Ayush sector continues to evolve, initiatives that encourage collaboration between government and industry are expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the international reputation of Indian traditional wellness systems and reinforcing Brand India Ayush on the global stage.
