Bharwari, Kaushambi – A severe water crisis has hit Bharwari as a contractor installed a 30 HP motor in place of the original 40 HP motor after the main pump house motor burned out. According to sources, a technical fault on Tuesday evening caused the 40 HP motor at the pump house to burn out, leaving around 2,000 homes without an adequate water supply.
Alternative Supply Fails to Meet Demand
Sources report that the water supply was redirected from another pump house, but the water pressure was too low, making it difficult for residents to fill their tanks. The problem has severely affected areas with a high Muslim population, such as Purani Bazar and Khallabad, where water shortages are creating major difficulties for the residents.
New Allegations: 41 HP Motor Allegedly Sold
It has been revealed by sources that a 41 HP motor purchased by the municipality a few years ago, intended for emergency use, was allegedly sold off by a municipal employee. Due to this, the necessary motor could not be replaced in time, and the use of a 30 HP motor has led to a weak water supply.
Hand Pumps Also in Disrepair
Hopes of relief through hand pumps have also been dashed, as out of the 10 hand pumps installed in the area, 7 are out of order. Sources indicate that these hand pumps are awaiting re-boring, further worsening the water crisis.
Locals Urge Authorities for Quick Action
The residents are now pleading with the local administration to resolve the water crisis as soon as possible. If the motors and hand pumps are not repaired promptly, the situation could become more dire, leaving large parts of the town without access to clean water for an extended period.
