Chandigarh Railway Station is undergoing a major redevelopment aimed at transforming it into a world-class transit hub. The project recently received focused attention during a review meeting led by Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, held in New Delhi. Officials from the Railway Board, Northern Railways, and RLDA participated in the discussions, emphasizing timely completion with minimal disruption to passengers.

This large-scale upgrade, backed by a budget of ₹462 crore, is being executed by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA). The revamp will improve facilities and strengthen connectivity across the Tri-City region — Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula.

With a total project area of 1,92,248 square meters, of which 27,383 square meters is allocated to new structures, the development includes G+3 buildings on both Chandigarh and Panchkula sides. This dual-sided design aims to ease passenger flow and improve access from multiple entry points.

Progress has already reached 81% completion, and the station is expected to be fully operational by October 2025. Once completed, the new station will symbolize modern infrastructure and efficient transport, greatly benefiting daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.
