Aizawl, Mizoram – June 26, 2025 – Mizoram has emerged as a frontrunner in India’s ongoing ‘Stop Diarrhoea’ campaign, reaffirming its commitment to reducing child mortality and promoting public health. The state is implementing a holistic strategy focused on prevention, awareness, and timely intervention to combat diarrhoeal diseases effectively.
Backed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mizoram’s campaign efforts include spreading awareness about hygienic practices, promoting early detection of symptoms, and ensuring access to key treatments like Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc supplements. These are essential in managing dehydration and reducing the impact of diarrhoea among children, who are most vulnerable.
A significant aspect of the campaign in Mizoram is its focus on clean water availability, which plays a critical role in preventing the transmission of waterborne infections. Simultaneously, community-level engagement is being prioritized to educate families, especially in rural and remote areas, about safe sanitation practices and basic child care during illness.
In its latest report, the Health Ministry praised Mizoram’s integrated public health response, highlighting the state’s dedication to the campaign’s theme — “A mission to save lives, together!” The coordinated effort reflects the power of community participation and interdepartmental collaboration in addressing health crises.
Mizoram’s proactive stance in the ‘Stop Diarrhoea’ mission serves as a benchmark for other states. By combining education, access to clean resources, and swift medical intervention, Mizoram is making significant progress toward eliminating preventable childhood deaths caused by diarrhoea, further cementing its role as a leader in public health reform.
