New Delhi, June 27 — A 43-year-old trader named Deepak, nephew of infamous gangster Manjit Mahal, was fatally shot during a morning walk in Delhi’s Bawana area, in what police are calling a meticulously planned assassination. The fatal incident occurred on Friday and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to police sources, unidentified assailants had been surveilling Deepak’s movements for several days prior to the attack. CCTV evidence reveals the attackers conducted a thorough reconnaissance of Deepak’s residence and daily habits. It was established that he regularly went for morning walks with his family.

On the morning of the attack, two bike-riding gunmen opened fire, shooting approximately six rounds at Deepak. He died on the spot. His daughter, who was accompanying him, sustained a gunshot wound to her hand and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Although Deepak had no known criminal background, police are investigating the possibility that the shooting was orchestrated by the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang. The gang, allegedly operating from overseas, is known for its longstanding rivalry with the Manjit Mahal faction.

Officials suggest that this killing may be a continuation of a violent turf war that has previously claimed multiple lives, including that of a property dealer earlier linked to the same feud.

The murder of a civilian with no criminal ties highlights the growing boldness of gang-related violence in the capital and raises serious questions about public safety and gang influence in urban areas.
