Indore, India – A disturbing case has surfaced in Indore, where a 29-year-old woman, accompanied by her minor daughter, has accused her husband and his friend of subjecting her to repeated domestic abuse, financial coercion, and sexual assault. The survivor lodged her formal complaint at the Indore Women’s Police Station, narrating a sequence of traumatic events that span several years.

According to her account, the woman married her husband through Hindu rites in 2016 in a Rajasthan district near her hometown. While the marriage initially appeared stable, the situation quickly deteriorated due to her husband’s alleged gambling addiction, which left him with debts amounting to ₹8 lakh.

To repay these debts, she claims her husband forced her to pledge all her jewelry. As the financial strain continued, he reportedly pressured her into borrowing money from her relatives. When she refused or failed to comply, she was allegedly subjected to frequent verbal abuse and physical assaults.

The woman further alleges that her husband sought monetary help from his friend Abhimanyu, a Delhi-based acquaintance from his childhood. Matters took a horrifying turn when, according to her complaint, Abhimanyu suggested that the woman herself should “settle” the debt by engaging in sexual acts with him. Upon her refusal, threats were made against her and her child, escalating to physical violence.

She was allegedly taken against her will to Indore and later flown to Delhi on September 1, 2023, with flight tickets arranged by Abhimanyu. Once in Delhi, she states she was taken to a room where she was sexually assaulted under threat.

As authorities begin investigating the allegations, the case highlights the grim intersection of financial abuse, domestic violence, and sexual exploitation. The survivor’s courage in coming forward sheds light on the silent suffering endured by many and underlines the need for urgent institutional support and justice.
