Uttarkashi, June 29, 2025 – A devastating landslide struck the Yamunotri Highway near the Silai Bend area early this morning, severely impacting a labor camp stationed nearby. Triggered by relentless rainfall, the landslide has left nine laborers missing, while ten others were successfully rescued and moved to safety.

According to an official update from the Uttarakhand Police, approximately 10–12 meters of the highway have been completely washed away due to the force of the landslide. Emergency response teams, including personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local police, are actively engaged in search and rescue operations.

Visuals shared from the site show rescue workers navigating through thick mud and debris as damaged structures lay scattered across the terrain. The sudden collapse of the earth in the region has not only endangered lives but also disrupted connectivity on this vital route.

Authorities have issued an urgent advisory to travelers, urging them to halt their journey and remain in safe zones until further notice. With continuous rainfall predicted in the area, officials fear additional landslides and are closely monitoring the situation.

Rescue efforts remain ongoing as the region battles nature’s fury.
