New Delhi, India – June 29, 2025 — On the occasion of Seychelles’ National Day, India has extended heartfelt congratulations to the island nation, reaffirming its enduring commitment to bilateral cooperation in the Indian Ocean. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar conveyed greetings to his Seychellois counterpart, Foreign Minister Sylvestre Radegonde, as well as to the people and government of Seychelles.

Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the strong and evolving partnership between the two countries, rooted in shared maritime priorities and mutual trust. In his message, he noted that the relationship continues to be shaped by Vision SAGAR—India’s strategic framework that stands for “Security and Growth for All in the Region.”

Seychelles, located at a vital maritime crossroads, plays a key role in regional stability and blue economy initiatives. India’s message of goodwill reflects a broader commitment to promoting security, sustainable development, and economic resilience across the Indian Ocean.

The two nations have forged deep ties in areas such as defense cooperation, maritime surveillance, capacity building, infrastructure development, and healthcare. India has actively supported Seychelles through initiatives like supplying patrol vessels, radar systems, and conducting joint naval exercises aimed at enhancing regional maritime security.

Vision SAGAR, a cornerstone of India’s Indian Ocean diplomacy, prioritizes collaboration with littoral states to address common challenges including piracy, climate threats, marine pollution, and illegal fishing. Today’s diplomatic exchange reinforces the strategic alignment between New Delhi and Victoria.

As both countries continue to advance their shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous Indian Ocean region, India’s greetings on Seychelles’ National Day reflect not only goodwill but a deepening of a partnership anchored in regional stability and cooperative growth.
