President Macron Reassures Armenia of France’s Steadfast Support, Emphasizes Peace and Regional Cooperation

French President Emmanuel Macron recently reiterated his country’s strong support for Armenia during a high-level meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan. Macron, in a social media post following their discussion, described the exchange as highly productive and reaffirmed France’s ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with Armenia.
During the conversation, President Macron expressed France’s clear backing for Armenia’s democratic institutions and its right to self-determination. He condemned any actions or pressures aimed at undermining the democratic voice of the Armenian population, sending a powerful message of solidarity.
A central theme of the meeting was advancing peace and cooperation across the South Caucasus. Macron announced the revival of joint initiatives focused on rebuilding diplomatic engagement, particularly concerning Armenia’s relationship with Azerbaijan. He stressed France’s active involvement in supporting meaningful dialogue and reducing regional tensions.
Macron also spoke of “peace and open borders” as essential for long-term regional prosperity. He emphasized the need to facilitate economic partnerships and cultural exchanges through improved connectivity and mutual respect among neighboring nations. His vision reflects a future shaped by collaboration rather than conflict.
This diplomatic interaction highlights the growing strength of Armenia-France relations. France, with its longstanding presence in regional peace processes, including through the OSCE Minsk Group, remains a crucial voice in promoting stability and democratic values in the Caucasus.
Macron’s renewed assurances place Armenia in a stronger diplomatic position while reinforcing France’s role as a committed ally in its pursuit of regional harmony and sustainable development.
