Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will soon become the epicenter of regional diplomacy as it prepares to host a series of high-level ASEAN meetings from July 8 to 11, 2025. Centered around the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” the upcoming events aim to shape Southeast Asia’s collective response to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Presiding over the meetings will be Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Malaysia’s Foreign Minister and Chair of the 2025 ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM). He will be joined by Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, who will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation in advancing key discussions.

The agenda features several pivotal gatherings, including the 58th AMM, ASEAN Post Ministerial Conferences, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 15th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum. Additionally, the SEANWFZ Commission will convene, reinforcing ASEAN’s stance on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

As Chair, Malaysia will also facilitate bilateral engagements where Dr. Kao Kim Hourn will meet with ASEAN and external Foreign Ministers to discuss regional dynamics, explore new collaboration frameworks, and align on the ASEAN 2045 Vision: “Our Shared Future.” These discussions are expected to deepen strategic cooperation, promote inclusive growth, and enhance ASEAN’s resilience in the face of global shifts.

Dr. Kao will also consult with representatives from the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), reflecting ASEAN’s continued focus on upholding human rights across the region.

These gatherings come at a defining moment, signaling ASEAN’s commitment to unity, peace, and long-term sustainable development through shared dialogue and collective leadership.
