Paris, July 27, 2025 — French President Emmanuel Macron has raised alarm over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza during a recent discussion with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi. Nearly three months after his state visit to Egypt, Macron highlighted continued collaboration between France and Egypt while condemning the dire conditions in Gaza as “unacceptable.”

In a public statement, Macron emphasized the urgency of addressing the blockade of humanitarian aid and the ongoing Israeli military intervention, warning that these factors are pushing Gaza’s population toward famine and mass displacement. “We cannot accept that civilians, especially the many children, are dying of hunger,” Macron said.

The French President also expressed hope that the upcoming international conference in New York on July 28–29 will revitalize efforts toward a fair and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He reaffirmed support for a two-state solution, which he believes is the only viable path to peace and security in the region.

Macron praised Egypt’s cooperative leadership in the working group for the reconstruction of Gaza and the West Bank, which it co-chairs with the United Kingdom. He thanked President al-Sissi for Egypt’s significant contribution to the success of the upcoming conference.

Looking ahead, Macron announced that the discussions would continue at the United Nations General Assembly in September, where further diplomatic initiatives, including potential recognition of Palestinian statehood, may be addressed.

The statement underlines France’s growing involvement in Middle East diplomacy and its insistence on humanitarian access, peace negotiations, and regional stability.
