Zelenskyy Stresses Energy Security and Air Defense Ahead of Ramstein Talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has outlined his government’s latest priorities as Russia intensifies strikes on critical infrastructure, particularly energy facilities.
During a staff meeting devoted to technological and defense matters, Zelenskyy said Moscow is again focusing on undermining Ukraine’s energy sector. While Kyiv has prepared countermeasures, he emphasized that the chief objective is to keep the power system stable, ensuring continuity for both the military and civilian population.
Zelenskyy also coordinated with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Ukraine’s goals for the upcoming Ramstein summit of international defense partners. At the top of the agenda, he said, is the reinforcement of Ukraine’s air defense network. Strengthening protection against aerial attacks is seen as vital not only for shielding infrastructure but also for safeguarding the operational capacity of the Ukrainian armed forces.
“The number one priority at Ramstein and in all our discussions with partners in Europe and the United States is air defense,” Zelenskyy stated, expressing confidence that Western support will help Ukraine maintain a consistently strong army.
The Ramstein meetings, launched in 2022, bring together defense officials from across the globe to coordinate assistance to Kyiv. As winter approaches and Russian attacks on energy facilities grow more frequent, Ukraine’s leadership is stressing both immediate resilience and long-term defense strategy.
