Bilaspur: In a significant step toward promoting a healthier and drug-free society, the Bilaspur district administration has announced a ten-day public awareness campaign under the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Scheduled from June 17 to June 26, the initiative aims to educate citizens about the dangers of substance abuse and encourage community participation in building a safer future.
The campaign will be organized under the theme “Identity of Developed India”, emphasizing the connection between social well-being and national progress. The activities will culminate on June 26, which is observed globally as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
District officials have planned a series of awareness programs that will engage people from different sections of society. Educational institutions, government departments, social organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) will collaborate to conduct events designed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of prevention.
Schools and colleges are expected to play a major role in the initiative by organizing seminars, debates, rallies, cultural performances, poster-making competitions, and interactive sessions. These activities will focus on educating young people about making informed choices and resisting substance abuse.
Government departments will coordinate outreach efforts in urban and rural areas, ensuring that awareness messages reach communities across the district. Special emphasis will be placed on informing families, youth groups, and vulnerable populations about the social, economic, and health consequences of drug addiction.
The campaign also seeks to strengthen community involvement by encouraging citizens to actively support anti-drug initiatives. Organizers believe that lasting change can only be achieved when individuals, families, educational institutions, and local organizations work together toward a common goal.
Officials noted that a drug-free society is essential for achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for future generations. By promoting awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility, the campaign aims to inspire people to contribute to a healthier and more productive nation.
As Bilaspur prepares for the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the district’s comprehensive awareness drive reflects a broader commitment to safeguarding communities and empowering citizens with knowledge. The initiative stands as a reminder that public awareness and community action remain powerful tools in the fight against substance abuse.
