Ramoji Rao was an eminent Indian businessman. He was born on 16 November 1936 in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. He was the chairman of Eenadu Group of Companies and founder of Ramoji Film City, one of the largest film studios in the world. He received his education from Gudivada Municipal High School and Gudivada College. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2016 for his exceptional contributions.
Recently, Ramoji Rao died on 8 June 2024 at the age of 87. He was admitted to Star Hospital in Hyderabad on 5 June due to breathing problems. Many dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu have expressed condolences on his demise. The Telangana government has decided to cremate him with state honors.
