At the 10th Convocation of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to expanding access to quality medical education and strengthening the country’s healthcare ecosystem.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister emphasized that India has witnessed significant growth in medical education capacity in recent years. He highlighted the expansion of medical colleges, increased undergraduate and postgraduate seats, and improved infrastructure as part of a broader national strategy to develop a stronger healthcare workforce.
The address reflected the government’s long-term vision of building a more inclusive and accessible medical education system, ensuring that aspiring doctors from diverse backgrounds have greater opportunities to pursue professional training. According to the remarks, this expansion is closely aligned with the broader goal of improving healthcare delivery across both urban and rural regions.
The ILBS, known for its specialization in liver and biliary diseases, continues to play an important role in advanced medical research, clinical care, and postgraduate training. The institution’s convocation ceremony also served as a platform to recognize graduating students and their contribution to India’s growing healthcare capacity.
The Union Health Minister further noted that under ongoing national health initiatives, India is steadily moving toward strengthening its medical infrastructure, research capabilities, and specialized treatment facilities. The focus remains on building a healthcare system that is both modern and accessible to all citizens.
The event also aligns with the broader development vision of Narendra Modi, often described as “Viksit Bharat,” which emphasizes long-term investment in education, healthcare, and human resource development.
Overall, the convocation highlighted the intersection of education, policy, and healthcare reform, underscoring India’s continued efforts to expand medical opportunities while enhancing the quality and reach of its healthcare system.
