Canadian MP Salma Zahid’s Car Set Ablaze at Scarborough Home as Police Investigate Suspected Arson
Canadian authorities are investigating a suspected arson after a vehicle belonging to Liberal Member of Parliament Salma Zahid was set on fire outside her home in Scarborough, Toronto, during the early hours of Thursday.
Zahid, who represents Scarborough Centre—Don Valley East, said her car and another vehicle were destroyed in the overnight incident. She said her son and neighbours noticed the fire and contacted emergency services. No one in the family was injured, and her home was not damaged.
Three Vehicles Damaged
Toronto police and firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in the area of Bellamy Road North and Lawrence Avenue East at around 1:20–1:30 a.m. Police said three vehicles were damaged in the incident. Investigators are treating the fire as a suspected case of arson.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or established a motive. Police have asked anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.
