UGC-NET June 2026 Results Declared for 84 Subjects, Nearly 1.48 Lakh Candidates Qualify
New Delhi, August 29, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for 84 subjects, giving thousands of candidates clarity on their eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions and PhD admissions. The results and subject-wise, category-wise cut-offs are now available through the official UGC-NET portal.

The examination was conducted in Computer-Based Test mode across the country. According to the latest result data, 7,73,806 candidates registered for the examination covering the 84 subjects, while 6,07,151 candidates appeared.
More Than 1.47 Lakh Candidates Qualify
The published results show that 1,47,579 candidates qualified across the three eligibility categories.
Among them:
- 4,241 candidates qualified for JRF and Assistant Professor eligibility.
- 45,904 candidates qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility and admission to PhD programmes.
- 97,434 candidates qualified for PhD admission only.
Based on the number of candidates who appeared, the combined qualification figure represents approximately 24.31% of candidates in the 84 subjects.
Results Released After Final Answer-Key Process
The result declaration followed the publication of provisional answer keys and recorded responses. Candidates were given an opportunity to challenge the provisional keys, after which objections were examined and the final answer keys were prepared.
The NTA has now published the results along with subject-wise and category-wise qualifying marks for the 84 subjects covered in this result cycle.
Three Subjects Not Included in This Result
Candidates who appeared for English, Commerce and Sociology will have to wait for their results.
NTA has decided to conduct fresh examinations for these three subjects on September 9 and 10, 2026. English and Commerce are scheduled for September 9, while Sociology is scheduled for September 10.
The decision followed complaints about problems in the original question papers. An expert committee examining the concerns identified several issues, including factual and typographical mistakes, translation problems, errors involving scholars’ names and book titles, grammatical problems and repeated questions.
Scorecards for the Three Subjects Will Come Later
NTA has cautioned candidates from English, Commerce and Sociology that they may encounter an “Invalid Application Number/Password” message if they try to access their scorecards before the re-examination.
The agency has clarified that results and scorecards for these candidates will be made available only after the fresh examinations are conducted and the evaluation process is completed.
How Candidates Can Check Their Results
Candidates whose subjects are included in the current result declaration can access their scorecards through the official UGC-NET website.
The general process is:
- Visit the official UGC-NET portal.
- Open the June 2026 result or scorecard section.
- Enter the required login credentials.
- Submit the details to access the result.
- Download and save the scorecard for future academic or recruitment requirements.
The official portal currently lists the June 2026 scorecard and final-answer-key services.
Cut-Off Marks Also Published
Along with individual results, NTA has released subject-wise and category-wise cut-off marks for the 84 subjects.
The cut-off varies considerably between subjects and eligibility categories. For example, the reported unreserved-category JRF cut-off was particularly high in subjects such as Persian, Arabic and Geography.
Candidates should therefore compare their marks with the cut-off applicable to their own subject and category rather than relying on a single overall qualifying figure.
What UGC-NET Qualification Means
UGC-NET serves several academic purposes. Depending on the category in which a candidate qualifies, the examination can establish eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor appointment, and/or admission to PhD programmes.
The official UGC-NET portal explains that eligibility is determined through the candidate’s aggregate performance in the examination and the applicable qualification category.
For successful candidates, the result can therefore represent an important step toward an academic career, research fellowship or doctoral study.
A Significant Milestone for Candidates
The release of results for 84 subjects ends a period of uncertainty for more than six lakh candidates who appeared in those subjects.
At the same time, candidates from English, Commerce and Sociology remain on a different schedule because of the re-examination process. Their immediate priority will be to prepare for the September tests while waiting for further instructions from NTA.
The June 2026 UGC-NET result process therefore continues in two stages: results for 84 subjects have been declared, while the remaining three subjects will be processed after their scheduled re-examinations.
