Kantamal Development Committee Reviews Welfare Schemes and Ongoing Projects in Boudh
Boudh, Odisha, September 19, 2026: A constituency-level development review meeting for Kantamal was held on Saturday at the Panchayat Bhawan of the Boudh Zilla Parishad, bringing together elected representatives and government officials to assess the progress of development programmes and welfare initiatives across the Assembly constituency.
The meeting was chaired by the Kantamal MLA, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Development Council. Officials conducted a detailed review of projects and government schemes covering several key sectors and discussed measures to improve implementation at the grassroots level.
Additional District Magistrate Aniruddha Pradhan, Chief Development Officer Prabhas Chandra Dandashena, Kantamal Block Chairperson Smt. Sasmita Senapati and officials representing different district and block-level departments participated in the meeting.
Focus on Effective Delivery of Government Schemes
Opening the proceedings, Chief Development Officer Prabhas Chandra Dandashena welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the meeting. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that eligible residents receive the benefits intended for them under government welfare programmes.
The meeting also focused on addressing public complaints efficiently and strengthening the delivery of administrative services so that government mechanisms remain accessible and responsive to citizens.
During the review, officials presented updates on programmes relating to health, education, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal resources, social welfare, child protection, labour and irrigation, among other sectors.
The discussions covered not only the progress of ongoing programmes but also issues related to beneficiary identification, implementation at the local level and the delivery of government assistance to eligible people.
MLA Stresses People-Centric Administration
The Kantamal MLA urged officials to place public service at the centre of their responsibilities. The MLA emphasised sincerity, dedication and empathy while dealing with citizens and resolving their concerns.
The importance of regular communication between elected representatives and government departments was also highlighted. According to the discussions, better coordination could help identify problems at the local level and facilitate faster implementation of development initiatives.
Officials were encouraged to participate regularly in block- and panchayat-level meetings and listen carefully to concerns raised by elected representatives and members of the public.
The MLA also stressed the need for wider public awareness about government welfare schemes. Officials were asked to ensure that eligible beneficiaries are informed about available programmes and are able to access the assistance for which they qualify.
‘Seva Saptah’ Initiative Discussed
Additional District Magistrate Aniruddha Pradhan informed participants about the ‘Seva Saptah’ (Service Week) initiative being conducted from September 17 alongside public grievance-hearing programmes.
Under the initiative, essential services and facilities from different government departments are being made available to eligible people at grievance-hearing locations wherever possible. The objective is to reduce delays and make access to administrative services more convenient for residents.
The initiative was presented as an effort to strengthen direct engagement between citizens and the administration while facilitating quicker action on eligible requests and grievances.
Departments Present Development Updates
Representatives of various departments provided information on the schemes under their respective jurisdictions. They briefed the meeting on the status of ongoing works, implementation-related issues and proposed steps for the coming period.
The review provided an opportunity to assess whether programmes were progressing according to their objectives and whether additional coordination was required at the block and panchayat levels.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on closer cooperation between elected representatives, district administration and field-level officials. Participants underlined the importance of coordinated efforts to improve public service delivery and support the continued development of the Kantamal Assembly constituency.
