Boudh Excise Team Seizes 21.2 Kg Ganja in Bharua Village, One Held

Boudh, Odisha, September 19, 2026: The Excise Department has stepped up enforcement against the illegal possession and movement of narcotic substances in Boudh district, with officials carrying out a raid at Bharua village under Manamunda Police Station on Saturday.

During the operation, the Excise team recovered 21.2 kg of suspected ganja and arrested one person in connection with the seizure. The arrested individual has been identified as Gajara Bhaina.

Joint Excise Operation

The raid was conducted under the supervision of Dilip Kumar Satapathy, Inspector of the Boudh Excise Range. Personnel from the Boudh, Sadar and Manamunda Excise units participated in the operation.

Officials seized the suspected contraband during the raid and took the accused into custody for further legal proceedings.

Following the recovery, the Excise Department registered a case under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case has been recorded at the Boudh Excise Range as PR No. 35/2026-27, dated September 19, 2026.

Accused Produced Before Court

After completing the initial procedures, the arrested accused was produced before the Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) Court at Kantamal on Saturday.

The case will now proceed according to the applicable legal process.

Officials Involved in the Raid

The enforcement operation involved several Excise personnel. The team included Excise Sub-Inspector G. Kameshwar, along with Parameswar Suna, Niranjan Mallik, Kailash Chandra Sahu, Lokanath Bhoi, Bijay Kumar Bagh and Excise Constable Smt. Sukesini Kujur, among other personnel.

The coordinated participation of officials from different Excise units formed part of the department’s continuing enforcement activities against narcotics-related offences in the district.

Enforcement to Continue

The Excise Department has indicated that surveillance and enforcement operations against the illegal narcotics trade will continue across Boudh district.

Officials are expected to maintain increased vigilance in areas suspected of being used for the possession, transportation or distribution of prohibited substances. The department’s ongoing operations are aimed at detecting illegal activities and taking action under the applicable laws.
