MY Bharat Holds Youth Parliament Programme in Boudh to Promote Drug-Free Society

Boudh, Odisha: Promoting awareness about substance abuse among young people was the central focus of a block-level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament Programme organised by MY Bharat in Boudh district on October 10.
The event took place at the conference hall of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Boudh, bringing together invited guests and local youth to discuss the importance of preventing drug addiction and encouraging healthier choices among the younger generation. The programme was conducted under the theme “Drug-Free Youth.”
Experts and Community Representatives Attend

Debashish Purohit, a yoga guru and former nominee of the Director General of MY Bharat, attended the programme as the chief guest. Other participants included Saroj Meher, coordinator of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya; Sanat Meher, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya; Baladev Behera; and Ashman Mahakud, district coordinator of MY Bharat in Boudh.
The gathering provided an opportunity to discuss how awareness initiatives and community participation can help young people understand the risks associated with substance abuse.
Youth Encouraged to Reject Drug Abuse

Addressing the participants, the invited guests highlighted the need to build a society in which young people are informed about the harmful consequences of drug consumption. They encouraged youth to avoid substance abuse and contribute to creating healthier families and communities.
Chief guest Debashish Purohit explained the purpose and relevance of the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament initiative to the young men and women attending the event. The programme sought to encourage youth participation in social issues while strengthening awareness of the challenges associated with addiction.
Solo Performance Delivers Social Awareness Message
Baladev Behera presented a solo performance carrying a social awareness message. His presentation highlighted the importance of educating young people about drug addiction and its harmful effects.
The performance added a creative dimension to the programme, using artistic expression to communicate a message about responsible choices and the need for greater public awareness.
Programme Concludes with Vote of Thanks
Ashman Mahakud, the MY Bharat district coordinator, welcomed the chief guest, other dignitaries and participating youths at the event. Volunteer Sushil Patra delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to those who contributed to the programme.
The initiative highlighted the role of youth-focused awareness activities in addressing substance abuse and encouraging positive social participation. By placing the drug-free youth message at the centre of its discussions, the programme sought to motivate young people to make informed decisions and support efforts to create a healthier society.
