Why Plastic Surgery Is Increasing Worldwide

Experts say several factors are contributing to the global rise in aesthetic procedures:

  • Advances in medical technology that make surgeries safer and more precise
  • Greater social acceptance of cosmetic enhancements
  • Medical tourism, where people travel abroad for lower-cost procedures
  • Influence of media and beauty standards, especially through social media

In South Korea, for example, cosmetic surgery has become a major industry and a global destination for medical tourism, attracting thousands of international patients each year.

Global Industry Continues to Grow

Plastic surgery now includes a wide range of procedures such as rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), liposuction, eyelid surgery, breast augmentation, and reconstructive surgeries. As demand continues to rise, healthcare analysts expect the cosmetic surgery industry to expand further in both developed and emerging economies.

The ranking illustrates how attitudes toward cosmetic procedures vary around the world, with some countries developing strong medical expertise and cultural acceptance of aesthetic surgery.
