The scooter was unveiled at Ather Community Day 2026 in Bengaluru, with the entry-level version carrying an effective ex-showroom price of ₹99,999. The Konarc is the first production scooter developed on Ather’s new EL platform.

Multiple Versions for Different Buyers

Ather is introducing the Konarc through two product lines—S and Z—with several battery and range configurations.

The S range includes versions with claimed IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 161 km and 200 km. The 100-km version is priced at ₹99,999, while the 125-km and 161-km versions are priced at ₹1,21,999 and ₹1,44,999 respectively, based on effective Bengaluru ex-showroom pricing.

The 200-km version and some Z variants are planned for later availability rather than an immediate full-market rollout. Ather says deliveries of the initially available variants will begin in a phased manner from September.

Designed for Indian Roads

Unlike Ather’s more performance-oriented scooters, the Konarc has been developed with everyday family usage in mind.

It features a metal body with a steel unibody chassis, a 14-inch front alloy wheel and a 12-inch rear wheel. Its 1,352-mm wheelbase is intended to provide greater stability, while long-travel suspension has been designed to deal with potholes and uneven urban roads.

The scooter also offers practical storage, including a 31-litre boot, along with a front storage compartment and USB charging provision on supported configurations.

New Braking Technology

One of the major technology additions is Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBS).

The system uses software, sensors, regenerative braking and the scooter’s existing drive electronics to adjust braking behaviour dynamically. Ather says the technology is designed to improve stability, reduce the possibility of rear-wheel lock-up and enhance braking control.

Features Focused on Everyday Convenience

The Konarc introduces several new features aimed at making routine scooter use easier.

MagicKey provides keyless functionality, while AutoPop is designed to make accessing the under-seat storage easier. Another feature called AirWalk assists the rider when manually pushing or pulling the scooter, which could be particularly useful in tight parking spaces.

The scooter also includes connected technology, navigation and rider-related alerts, depending on the variant.

Charging Gets a Different Approach

Ather has integrated the charger into the Konarc rather than relying solely on a conventional external charging unit.

The scooter has a built-in charger and can be paired with an additional 450W charger. The two can work together through Ather’s Combined Charging system to reduce home-charging time.

The company has also extended the maintenance interval to 12 months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first.

Battery Warranty Extended

Ather has introduced its fifth-generation Bedrock battery technology on the Konarc. The company says customers can obtain battery coverage of up to 10 years or 1,00,000 km, depending on the applicable warranty package.

The extended warranty is significant because battery durability remains one of the major considerations for consumers evaluating electric scooters.

Ather Targets the Mass Market

The Konarc represents an important change in Ather’s product strategy. Instead of concentrating primarily on premium or performance-focused electric scooters, the company is now targeting a much broader group of Indian consumers.

With its starting price below ₹1 lakh, practical family-oriented design and multiple range choices, the Konarc will compete in a highly competitive segment alongside established electric scooters from other manufacturers.

The launch also comes as India’s electric two-wheeler market continues to attract investment from established automobile companies and newer EV manufacturers.

For Ather, the Konarc could become an important product in its effort to increase volumes and bring electric mobility to a larger section of India’s scooter-buying population.
