South Africa Beat Australia by 32 Runs to Seal ODI Series
Johannesburg: South Africa secured the three-match ODI series against Australia with a 32-run victory in the second match at the Wanderers Stadium, producing a high-scoring performance built around centuries from captain Temba Bavuma and David Miller.

Bavuma and Miller Power South Africa to 365
After Australia chose to field, South Africa recovered from an early setback when Aiden Markram was dismissed for a first-ball duck.
Temba Bavuma then steadied the innings before David Miller launched an aggressive assault. Bavuma scored 103 from 116 balls, while Miller smashed 142 from 93 deliveries, including 12 fours and nine sixes. Their partnership transformed South Africa’s innings and helped the hosts reach 365/9 in 50 overs.
Miller Produces Explosive Century
Miller accelerated dramatically after reaching his century, taking only 73 balls to reach three figures.
His 142-run innings became the centerpiece of South Africa’s imposing total and earned him the Player of the Match award.
Bavuma’s century was equally important in providing stability after South Africa lost two early wickets.
Australia Starts the Chase Strongly
Australia began its chase with considerable momentum.
Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head both scored 84, putting together a 130-run opening partnership. Their aggressive start kept Australia firmly in the contest during the early stages of the innings.
However, South Africa gradually regained control as wickets began to fall through the middle overs.
South African Spin Creates Pressure
Australia struggled to maintain its scoring rate once the opening partnership was broken.
South Africa’s spin options played an important role, with Keshav Maharaj, Bjorn Fortuin and Aiden Markram helping restrict the Australian middle order. Lizaad Williams also contributed with three wickets.
Australia eventually reached 333 but was bowled out with one ball remaining in the 50th over.
Bartlett Provides Late Fightback
Xavier Bartlett gave Australia renewed hope with a rapid 50 from 26 balls.
His attacking innings briefly brought Australia closer to the target, but Lizaad Williams ended the resistance with a yorker that dismissed Bartlett. Australia was subsequently bowled out for 333 in 49.5 overs.
South Africa Take 2-0 Lead
The victory gave South Africa an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
The result continues South Africa’s strong recent record against Australia in bilateral ODI cricket. The third and final ODI is scheduled to be played at Potchefstroom on September 30.
Australia Look for Consolation Win
Australia will now have one final opportunity to avoid a series whitewash.
The visitors will need to address the middle-order collapse that followed their strong starts in both matches, while South Africa will look to complete a clean sweep in the final ODI.
