Women@Dior and UNESCO: Empowering the Next Generation of Women Leaders Through Mentorship and Action

Since its launch in 2017, the Women@Dior & UNESCO programme has grown into one of the world’s most influential mentorship and leadership initiatives for young women. By combining Dior’s commitment to creativity and innovation with UNESCO’s mission to advance education and gender equality, the programme has empowered more than 2,800 young women from over 60 countries, creating a truly global network of future changemakers.
The programme is far more than a traditional mentoring initiative. It provides young women with access to experienced professionals, leadership training, educational resources, and an international community that encourages collaboration across cultures and disciplines. Participants come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including engineering, business, public policy, science, design, communications, hospitality, and the arts, demonstrating that leadership opportunities belong to every field of study.
A defining feature of the Women@Dior & UNESCO programme is its focus on transforming ideas into meaningful action. Every mentee is encouraged to identify a challenge affecting girls and women within their own community and develop practical solutions through the programme’s signature “Dream for Change” initiative. Rather than limiting learning to classrooms or virtual sessions, participants apply their knowledge to real-world projects that seek measurable social impact.
Members of the 2025–2026 cohort have reflected on how mentorship has strengthened their confidence, broadened their perspectives, and inspired them to become leaders capable of driving positive change. Their stories demonstrate that empowerment begins with education but flourishes when individuals are given opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and lead with purpose. Through guidance from experienced mentors and interactions with fellow participants from around the world, mentees learn that even local initiatives can contribute to global progress.
The programme also emphasizes the importance of building lifelong professional networks. Participants become part of an international sisterhood where knowledge, experiences, and opportunities continue to be shared long after the formal mentorship period ends. This growing community encourages collaboration across borders and helps young women support one another throughout their professional journeys.
Education remains at the heart of the initiative. Alongside one-on-one mentoring, participants complete online learning modules covering leadership, sustainability, gender equality, social responsibility, innovation, and ethical decision-making. These educational experiences prepare mentees to navigate increasingly complex global challenges while remaining committed to inclusive and responsible leadership.
The partnership between Dior and UNESCO highlights how collaboration between the private sector and international organizations can create lasting social value. By investing in education, mentorship, and community-driven projects, the programme demonstrates that empowering women is not simply about individual success—it is about strengthening societies through inclusive leadership and equal opportunities.
As the 2025–2026 mentees continue turning their ideas into action, they represent a generation determined to create positive change for girls and women worldwide. Their projects, ambitions, and shared experiences illustrate that when education, mentorship, and opportunity come together, young leaders can transform communities and inspire future generations.
The continuing success of Women@Dior & UNESCO reflects a simple but powerful message: investing in young women today creates stronger communities, more innovative leadership, and a more equitable future for tomorrow. Through knowledge, collaboration, and action, the programme continues to prove that empowering one generation of women can create ripple effects that extend far beyond borders.
