UN Secretary-General Calls for Political Resolution in Gaza, Reaffirms Support for Two-State Solution

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has reaffirmed that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza cannot be resolved through relief efforts alone. In a recent address, Guterres emphasized that the ongoing suffering in the region stems from deep-rooted political conflicts, which require long-term solutions rather than temporary aid interventions.
Highlighting the need for sustainable peace, Guterres reiterated his support for the two-State solution—a widely endorsed international framework that envisions an independent Palestinian state existing side-by-side with Israel. He noted that only by confronting the core political issues can the cycle of violence, displacement, and hopelessness in Gaza be brought to an end.
Guterres warned that without a comprehensive political agreement, humanitarian efforts—no matter how well-funded or widespread—will merely treat the symptoms, not the cause. He called for renewed commitment from global powers to foster negotiations and push for meaningful dialogue between the parties involved.
Central to his message was the emphasis on diplomacy, justice, and respect for human dignity. Guterres urged world leaders to uphold the rights of both Palestinians and Israelis, stressing that a peaceful future depends on mutual recognition and coexistence.
The Secretary-General’s appeal serves as a powerful reminder that true peace requires not just compassion, but also courage and political determination. As violence continues to disrupt lives in Gaza, his words challenge the international community to shift from reaction to resolution, aiming for a future grounded in fairness, freedom, and shared humanity for all.
