Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly condemned the deadly attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, describing it as a direct consequence of growing global antisemitism and calling on Australian authorities to take decisive action to protect Jewish communities.

Netanyahu revealed that he spoke earlier in the day with Rabbi Yoram Ulman, a senior Chabad emissary and head of the rabbinical court in Sydney, who is also the father-in-law of Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who was killed in the attack. He also spoke with Arsen Ostrovsky, Chairman of the Israel–Australia Jewish Council, who was injured in the same incident and has since been discharged from hospital.

Speaking on behalf of himself, his wife, and the people of Israel, Netanyahu conveyed deep condolences to Rabbi Ulman and to the families of all those who lost their lives. He also wished a full and speedy recovery to those who were wounded in the attack.

The Israeli leader stated that such violent acts do not occur in isolation, but stem from unchecked antisemitism that has been allowed to grow. He criticized what he described as a weak response by authorities, stressing that governments have a responsibility to confront hatred and terrorism firmly and without delay. According to Netanyahu, the Australian government must use every available legal and security measure to eradicate terror and restore a sense of safety for Jewish citizens.

Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s unwavering support for the Jewish community in Australia, emphasizing that Israel stands shoulder to shoulder with them during this painful time. He offered words of encouragement to Chabad emissaries and to Australian Jews, praising their resilience, strong faith, and moral strength in the face of violence and hatred.

Concluding his message, Netanyahu highlighted that the unity and determination of Jewish communities worldwide remain a powerful response to those who seek to spread fear and destruction. He stressed that despite acts of terror, the spirit of the Jewish people endures, grounded in faith, solidarity, and an unbreakable connection to Israel.
