ASEAN and Canada Deepen Socio-Cultural Partnership to Build an Inclusive and People-Centred Regional Community
The long-standing partnership between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Canada continues to expand beyond trade and security, with growing emphasis on strengthening social development and improving the well-being of people across the region. Through cooperation under the socio-cultural pillar, both sides are working to foster a more inclusive, resilient, and people-oriented ASEAN Community by promoting gender equality, strengthening social protection systems, supporting women and children, and encouraging greater participation of women in leadership and public decision-making.
As one of ASEAN’s valued Dialogue Partners, Canada has consistently supported initiatives that address social challenges while helping member states build stronger institutions capable of responding to changing economic and demographic realities.
