Early Monsoon Brings Rain and Relief to Haryana, Orange Alert Issued
This year, the monsoon has surprised Haryana with its early arrival, offering much-needed relief from the intense summer heat. On Wednesday morning, several districts including Ambala, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Hisar, and Panipat woke up to light to moderate rainfall. Other areas like Jhajjar, Jind, and Bhiwani remain cloudy, suggesting more showers are on the way.
Arriving five days ahead of schedule, the monsoon officially entered Haryana on Tuesday, instead of its usual onset around June 29. This is the 14th early arrival in the past 25 years, and it comes as good news for farmers and residents alike, bringing both cooler temperatures and essential water for agriculture.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for June 25 and 26, predicting moderate to heavy rainfall in many parts of the state. The monsoon’s progress is being guided by moist winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, currently sweeping through Bijnor (U.P.) to Karnal and Kaithal.
Over the last 24 hours, Haryana recorded an average of 5.9 mm rainfall, with Kurukshetra receiving the highest—36 mm. Temperatures have also dropped notably, providing much-welcomed comfort across the region.
