Food Safety Officials Seize Over 100 Kilograms of Suspected Adulterated Green Peas During Mysuru Market Inspection
Mysuru, India — Food safety authorities conducted a special inspection at the vegetable market on MG Road in Ittigegudu, Mysuru, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of green peas suspected of being chemically treated to enhance their appearance.
During the enforcement drive, officials from the State Food Safety Department inspected multiple vegetable stalls as part of an ongoing effort to monitor food quality and protect consumer health. The operation led to the confiscation of 106 kilograms of suspected adulterated green peas from six different vendors operating in the market.
According to officials, the seized produce is suspected of having been artificially colored using chemical substances to give the peas a brighter and fresher appearance.
