The suspects, aged between 24 and 49, were detained during separate raids in Taiping and Kulim, according to police. Investigators believe the group, known as Geng Man Kuda, may be connected to as many as 28 cases reported in Perak, Kedah and Penang since June.

Police said the group allegedly targeted vehicles parked outside homes and people who were either inside their houses or travelling alone. Investigators believe modified metal rods were used to steal cars parked in front of residences.

During the operation, officers recovered six vehicles believed to have been stolen. The vehicles included a Proton Wira, Toyota Vios, Honda Accord and Naza Citra. Police estimate the losses linked to the cases at approximately RM200,000.

Investigators are still searching for three other men, aged between 30 and 36, who are believed to have connections with the suspected gang.

The case is being investigated under several sections of Malaysia’s Penal Code, including provisions covering gang robbery, armed robbery, vehicle theft, theft and property damage. Police are continuing to examine the evidence and determine the individual roles of those detained.

The arrests are part of a wider effort by Malaysian authorities to disrupt organised property crime and prevent repeat offences across state borders.

The suspects have not been convicted of any offence. They are presumed innocent unless their guilt is established through the Malaysian judicial process.

Police investigations remain ongoing, and further arrests could follow as officers attempt to locate the remaining suspects and establish whether the group was involved in additional cases.
