Israeli Settlers Clash With Security Forces as Palestinian Family’s Return to West Bank Home Is Blocked
More than 100 Israeli settlers clashed with Israeli security forces in the West Bank village of Jalud after a displaced Palestinian family attempted to return to its home under military protection.

The confrontation occurred as Israeli troops and Border Police officers accompanied the Tubasi family back to their property following a court decision concerning their return. The family had previously left the area after reported harassment and violence by settlers.
Violence Erupts in Jalud
According to the Israeli military, large numbers of settlers arrived after the family reached the village. Roads were blocked, tires were set on fire and stones were thrown at security personnel.
Palestinian homes and vehicles were also reportedly damaged or set ablaze during the confrontation. Three Border Police officers sustained minor injuries, while a security vehicle was damaged.
The escalating violence eventually prevented the security forces from completing the family’s return.
Family Escorted by Israeli Forces
The Tubasi family had been displaced from its home in Jalud earlier in the year. Israeli authorities had agreed to provide security for its return following a court ruling requiring the family to be allowed back.
The military said its personnel attempted to protect the family when the settlers entered the area. According to the army, troops physically prevented the family from being harmed during the confrontation.
However, the situation became increasingly difficult to control, and the family was ultimately removed from the area for its safety.
Homes and Vehicles Damaged
Reports from the area described significant property damage. Two buildings associated with the Tubasi family were affected, while vehicles and other Palestinian property were also damaged.
The incident has drawn attention because Israeli security personnel themselves became targets during the confrontation.
The Israeli military said two suspects were detained and transferred to police for questioning, while investigators were expected to collect evidence and testimony from the area.
Political Reaction
The incident has generated condemnation from Israeli political leaders and renewed discussion about settler violence in the West Bank.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned violence against security forces and called for legal action against those responsible. Other Israeli politicians have also raised concerns about the increasing number of confrontations involving settlers and security personnel.
Wider West Bank Tensions
The Jalud confrontation comes amid continuing tensions in the occupied West Bank, where disputes over land, settlements and Palestinian property have contributed to repeated clashes.
The latest incident has also drawn international attention because the confrontation involved Israeli security forces attempting to enforce a court-related decision concerning a Palestinian family’s return.
The episode underscores the complex security and political environment in the West Bank, where disputes between Palestinian residents, Israeli settlers and security forces continue to generate violence and displacement.
