🇮🇹 Italy: Man Arrested After Police Discover Firearms and Ammunition at His Home
Capaccio Paestum, Italy — September 4, 2026: Italian authorities have arrested a man in the Salerno province after a residential search allegedly uncovered illegally held firearms and ammunition.

The operation was carried out by officers from the Carabinieri of the Agropoli Operational and Mobile Unit together with personnel from the Capaccio Scalo station. The search was conducted at the suspect’s home in Capaccio Paestum.
According to the information released through the Carabinieri’s official news service, investigators allegedly found two blank-firing pistols during the search. One of them, a .380-calibre weapon, had reportedly been modified and was found to be functional and capable of firing. The second, an 8-calibre pistol, allegedly lacked its required red safety plug.
Police also seized 20 rounds of 9×21 ammunition and one .380-calibre round, according to the authorities. The discovery led to the man’s arrest on suspicion of illegally possessing a clandestine firearm and ammunition.
The case began with a judicial-police investigation that resulted in the residential search. Authorities are now examining the circumstances surrounding the possession of the weapons and ammunition.
The arrest was subsequently validated by the judicial authorities. A judge ordered the suspect to remain under house arrest while the criminal proceedings continue.
Italian authorities have stressed that the allegations remain subject to further judicial assessment. The arrest and precautionary measure do not constitute a final finding of guilt.
The investigation is continuing as authorities work to establish the origin of the weapons and ammunition and determine whether additional offences or individuals may be connected to the case.
