The Indian government has declared intentions to apply the e-Office platform over all attached, subordinate offices and autonomous bodies in a major step towards digital transformation. Comprising part of the government’s 100-day plan, this project seeks to improve administrative process accountability, efficiency, and openness.

Based on e-Office’s success in the Central Secretariat—where over 94% of files and receipts are now handled electronically—the government has found 133 offices for deployment. Rules have been developed and a road map created to guarantee a seamless change.

Officials from several ministries, departments, and offices talked on the technical modalities and on-boarding procedure during a recent inter-ministerial session. Attracting more than 290 officials, the conference represented a major step towards realising the government’s ideal of a totally digital workplace.

55 offices have started the implementation process as of now; all offices are required to send assessment forms to NIC e-Office PMU by July 31, 2024. The government is dedicated to finish the rollout within the mandated one hundred days.

This project evidence India’s will to adopt digital technologies and improve government. Using e-Office, the government hopes to cut documentation, strengthen data security, and provide better citizen services.”
