Madhya Pradesh Government Raises DA for Employees by 4%, Benefiting 7.5 Lakh Staff
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a 4% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and officials, benefiting approximately 7.5 lakh employees across the state. This increment, effective from January 2024, will see the DA for employees rise from 46% to 50%, providing monthly financial benefits ranging from ₹620 to ₹5,640, depending on the employee’s pay scale. Additionally, employees will receive arrears for the past ten months, ranging from ₹6,200 to ₹56,400.
Announcing this decision, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his appreciation for the efforts of state employees, saying, “The government’s decision to raise DA by 4% is our Diwali gift to employees. As we approach the state’s Foundation Day on November 1, we recognize the dedication and positive spirit of our workforce, who contribute to our state’s unique identity among government employees across the country.”
Cash Benefits Effective from November Salary
The increased DA will reflect in employees’ November salaries as cash benefits, aligning with the festive season. Due to Diwali, October salaries have already been disbursed, which required payroll to be processed in advance. The annual financial impact of this decision on the state exchequer is estimated to be around ₹1,450 crore.
This announcement is a significant step in enhancing employee welfare and comes as a morale boost for government staff, ensuring their loyalty and dedication are acknowledged and rewarded. The increase in DA not only aids in countering inflation but also signifies the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of its employees.
