CM Yogi Counters SP’s Claims, Highlights Boatmen’s Success During Mahakumbh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has refuted allegations made by the Samajwadi Party (SP) regarding the exploitation of boatmen during the Mahakumbh Mela. Instead, he presented a remarkable success story, citing how a boatman’s family earned ₹30 crore in just 45 days during the grand religious congregation in Prayagraj.
Boatmen Benefited, Not Exploited: CM Yogi
Speaking in the Uttar Pradesh State Legislative Assembly, CM Yogi dismissed the opposition’s claims and provided real data to showcase the financial gains of boat operators. He highlighted a specific case where a boatman’s family, owning 130 boats, managed to earn ₹30 crore between January 13 and February 26.
“This means each boat generated around ₹23 lakh over 45 days, which translates to a daily income of approximately ₹50,000-₹52,000 per boat,” CM Yogi stated, emphasizing the economic benefits reaped by the local community.
CM Yogi’s Visit to Prayagraj
On February 27, CM Yogi visited Prayagraj to take part in religious rituals and express gratitude to those who contributed to the success of Mahakumbh. He also actively participated in the cleaning of the River Ganga, reinforcing his commitment to environmental conservation.

The Chief Minister acknowledged the efforts of workers and officials who played a crucial role in organizing the massive event.
“We honored health and sanitation workers, who worked tirelessly to maintain cleanliness, ensuring the smooth conduct of Mahakumbh. Additionally, I interacted with boatmen, police personnel, and security staff, all of whom were instrumental in making the event successful,” CM Yogi remarked.
