Seven-Day Hunger Strike Continues in Patha Region Demanding Basic Civic Facilities

Chitrakoot March 22, 2026 – The Bundelkhand Mukti Morcha has been leading a continuous hunger strike at the Shaheed Smarak Park, LIC Tiraha in Karvi, now entering its seventh day. The protest highlights the unresolved fundamental issues faced by residents of the Patha region. Organizers have made it clear that the strike will continue until their demands are fully addressed. Despite facing adverse weather conditions such as storms, heavy rain, and strong winds, the protesters remain undeterred in their resolve.
The movement calls for solidarity and support from fellow revolutionaries and the general public to strengthen the campaign and ensure that the voice of the Patha region reaches the authorities effectively.
Key Demands of the Protestors
The Bundelkhand Mukti Morcha has outlined 20 specific demands aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation, and public amenities in the Patha area:
- Road Infrastructure: Widening of the Dadri-Markundi connecting route from Devangana Valley.
- Healthcare: Deployment of an ambulance and staff at the Primary Health Center in Rukma Khurd.
- Libraries: Proper functioning of the library in Rukma Buzurg Gram Panchayat and construction of libraries in Marakundi, Itwa Dudela, and Saraiya Gram Panchayats.
- Sports Facilities: Development of stadiums under the ‘Khelo India’ program in Rukma Khurd, Marakundi, and Saraiya Panchayats.
- Educational Institutions: Establishment of degree colleges, government inter-colleges, and girls’ inter-colleges in Rukma Khurd, Marakundi, and Itwa Dudela Panchayats.
- Animal Healthcare & Drinking Water: Setting up a veterinary hospital in Rukma Buzurg, improving drinking water facilities, road access, and assigning doctors.
- Electricity: Addressing power cuts and low-voltage issues throughout the Patha region.
- Water Supply: Completion of the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ (Water for Every Household) scheme in all Gram Panchayats of the area.
- Water Bodies: Beautification and maintenance of ponds across all Gram Panchayats.
- Road Repair: Restoration of the Madayan-Bahilpurwa connecting road.
- Public Transport: Initiation of government bus services from Karvi to Marakundi via Dadri Mafi.
- Dam Maintenance: Repair of the Mado Dam gates and excavation of associated canals.
- Cremation Facilities: Construction of cremation grounds in every Gram Panchayat.
- Police Infrastructure: Setting up a police outpost in Dadri Mafi Gram Panchayat.
- Railway Infrastructure: Repair of the underpass at Bahilpurwa Railway Station and construction of a flyover.
- Railway Safety: Construction of a flyover over the railway gate at Marakundi Railway Station to improve traffic movement.
- Employment Generation: Establishment of factories and other employment opportunities to curb migration from the Patha region.
- Modern Education: Promotion of advanced technical education in all open schools across the area.
- Administrative Upgrade: Upgrading the Rukma Khurd Tehsil to Karvi.
- Transport Facilities: Establishment of auto-rickshaw stands for vehicles traveling from the Patha region to Karvi headquarters.
The hunger strike underscores the urgent need for development and public amenities in the Patha region, which has long suffered from infrastructural deficits and limited access to basic services.
