India's drive to build a faster, smarter, and more integrated logistics ecosystem has reached another important milestone with the successful dispatch of the first container rake from the Veldurthi Goods Shed in Andhra Pradesh. The inaugural freight movement marks the operational beginning of the facility as an Exclusive Container Rail Terminal, reinforcing the country's vision of improving multimodal connectivity and making freight transportation more efficient. The first train departed carrying 2,760 tonnes of pig iron destined for Phillaur in Punjab, demonstrating the terminal's capability to handle large-scale industrial cargo while connecting manufacturing hubs with markets across the country.
