Iranian Boeing 737 Makes Emergency Landing After Severe In-Flight Vibration
Mashhad: A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 was forced to return to Mashhad shortly after takeoff after a serious technical problem caused intense vibrations and damage inside the passenger cabin.

The aircraft was operating a domestic service from Mashhad to Kermanshah on September 15 when the problem developed soon after departure. Reports indicate that part of a landing-gear tyre became detached, after which the aircraft experienced severe vibration and an engine-related emergency.
The pilots decided to turn the aircraft around and make an emergency landing at Mashhad’s Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport.
The intense shaking created frightening conditions inside the cabin. Sections of the overhead interior and ceiling lining became detached, with some panels falling toward passenger seats and exposing parts of the aircraft’s internal structure.
Videos recorded inside the aircraft showed passengers reacting with alarm as the cabin shook heavily and luggage moved from overhead compartments.
Despite the dramatic situation, the aircraft landed safely and passengers were able to leave the plane. Initial reports indicated that there were no reported injuries or fatalities.
The airport temporarily restricted use of the affected runway while the aircraft and surrounding area were examined. Normal operations were later restored.
The passengers were subsequently provided with an alternative aircraft to continue their journey to Kermanshah.
Iran’s aviation authorities are investigating the incident to determine precisely what caused the landing-gear problem, the subsequent vibration and the damage to the cabin interior.
The incident has attracted significant attention because it occurred during a domestic flight and was captured on passenger video, providing a visible account of the severe shaking inside the aircraft.
It also comes after another recent incident involving a Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 at Mashhad, increasing attention on the airline’s operational safety and aircraft maintenance.
Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft’s mechanical condition, maintenance records and the sequence of events surrounding the landing-gear failure.
For now, the most significant outcome is that the aircraft returned safely to the airport and no casualties have been reported.
