In Lagos, officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested four suspected members of an alleged armed-robbery syndicate operating around the Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas.

Police said the suspects were located at a hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, following an intelligence-led operation. Investigators recovered mobile phones, laptops, jewellery and other items during a search of the premises.

Authorities said the four suspects remain in custody while investigators work to establish their alleged roles in robbery operations and determine whether other people were involved.

In a separate operation in Rivers State, police rescued a woman identified as Loveth, who had allegedly been abducted by armed men on September 2 while sitting outside her shop.

According to the Rivers State Police Command, officers from the Eleme Police Division launched an intelligence-led operation after the reported kidnapping. The operation eventually led police to the suspected kidnappers’ location.

One suspected gang member, identified as 35-year-old Victor Ini, was arrested during the operation. Police also reported recovering a minibus, two locally made pistols, ammunition, a mobile phone and other items.

The Rivers command said efforts were continuing to identify and apprehend other people allegedly connected with the kidnapping. The arrested suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Police officials in both states urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could help authorities prevent and investigate violent crimes.

The latest operations underline the continuing security challenges facing parts of Nigeria, while also highlighting increased reliance on intelligence-led policing to target criminal networks and locate kidnapping victims.
