Pakistan: Islamabad Warns Iran to Rein in Houthi Allies Amid Regional Escalation
Pakistan has urged Iran to use its influence over Yemen’s Houthi movement to prevent further attacks as tensions across the Middle East continue to threaten regional security and international shipping.

Islamabad’s warning comes as fighting involving Iran, the United States and regional actors has intensified. Pakistan’s position carries particular significance because it maintains close defence and strategic ties with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye while also sharing a border with Iran.
The security situation around the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz has become an increasingly important concern for Pakistan because disruption to shipping and energy supplies could raise transportation and fuel costs. Oil prices have remained above $100 a barrel amid fears of prolonged supply interruptions.
Pakistan has traditionally maintained diplomatic relations with both Saudi Arabia and Iran and has sought to avoid being drawn directly into their regional rivalry. Its latest message therefore reflects an attempt to encourage de-escalation while protecting its own economic and security interests.
The situation is also being closely watched by countries dependent on maritime trade through the Red Sea and Gulf routes. Any prolonged disruption could affect global energy markets, shipping insurance and the cost of imported goods.
With regional tensions continuing, Islamabad is expected to maintain diplomatic contacts with the parties involved and push for measures that prevent the conflict from spreading further.
