A criminal investigation in the United Kingdom has resulted in prison sentences for members of a group accused of attempting to bring a large quantity of cocaine into the country by concealing the drugs inside shipments of frozen fish.

Investigators from the Metropolitan Police uncovered evidence suggesting that the group was involved in planning an international drug-importation operation. According to police, the suspected shipment contained hundreds of kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated UK street value exceeding £20 million.

The investigation also uncovered communications that allegedly revealed discussions about the transportation and distribution of cocaine and ketamine. Officers examined the group’s activities and gathered evidence that ultimately led to criminal proceedings against those involved.

The use of legitimate commercial cargo to conceal illegal drugs has been a recurring concern for UK law-enforcement agencies. Investigators in this case focused on how the suspected network intended to move the drugs after they entered Britain.
