UK Police Arrest Dual British-Iranian National in RAF Fairford Terror Investigation
London: British counter-terrorism police have arrested a dual British-Iranian national as part of an ongoing investigation into a security incident near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

The man was arrested in Westminster, London, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. Police also searched two properties in the capital as investigators continued examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Sixth Arrest in the Investigation
The latest detention follows the arrest of five British men near RAF Fairford on September 27.
The five men, all in their 20s, were detained after police received information about three suspicious vehicles travelling toward the airbase. They were subsequently released on police bail while the investigation continued.
Police have not announced charges against those five individuals.
Petrol Found in Vehicles
Investigators have confirmed that a quantity of petrol was recovered from vehicles associated with the original arrests.
However, police said that no explosive device was found in the vehicles. This has left investigators examining a range of possible explanations for the activity near the military facility.
Possible Foreign-State Connection Under Investigation
Counter Terrorism Policing has said investigators are examining multiple lines of inquiry, including the possibility of foreign-state involvement.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said there are indications that Iran may have played a role in the incident. Iran has strongly denied involvement and has rejected attempts to connect Tehran with the arrests.
Police have not publicly established that Iran was responsible for the incident.
RAF Fairford’s Strategic Importance
RAF Fairford is a strategically important military facility that has been used by U.S. aircraft for operations in the Middle East.
Its connection with military operations involving Iran has increased international attention surrounding the investigation.
The security incident prompted a major police response, with specialist officers and military personnel deployed around the area.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
Senior counter-terrorism officials have described the investigation as complex and said specialist teams are examining multiple lines of inquiry.
Authorities are continuing to assess evidence from the scene, vehicles and searches carried out in London.
No final conclusion about the motive or wider connections behind the incident has been announced.
The investigation remains active as British authorities work to establish exactly what happened near RAF Fairford and whether any wider organisation or foreign actor was involved.
