Kuwait-China Friendship Club Founder Highlights New Opportunities for Bilateral Cooperation
KUWAIT CITY, November Growing cooperation between China and Kuwait could open new opportunities in infrastructure, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, trade and technological development, according to the founder of the Kuwait-China Friendship Club.

Speaking at the Kuwait edition of the Global Dialogue, titled “Stability and Prosperity: China’s Long-Term Governance and Global Development,” Sheikha Al-Anoud Al-Ibrahim Al-Duai Al-Sabah highlighted the importance of China’s long-term development strategy and its potential contribution to Kuwait’s economic modernization.
She said China’s emphasis on sustainable growth, technological innovation and institutional development closely matches several priorities outlined in Kuwait Vision 2035.
According to her, the two countries have considerable potential to expand their partnership through practical projects, knowledge exchange and mutually beneficial investment.
China’s Development Strategy Offers New Prospects
Al-Anoud explained that China’s approach to long-term economic planning focuses on improving development quality, strengthening innovation and building modern infrastructure.
She also highlighted the importance of effective governance, institutional reforms and efforts to combat corruption in ensuring that development objectives are successfully implemented.
Referring to the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, she noted that stronger institutional capacity and improved governance systems are important foundations for sustainable national development.
She added that China’s development experience could provide valuable opportunities for international cooperation and the exchange of ideas.
55 Years of Diplomatic Relations Create a Strong Foundation
China and Kuwait are marking the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2026, an important milestone that reflects decades of bilateral engagement.
Al-Anoud said the development priorities of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Kuwait Vision 2035 offer several areas where the two countries can strengthen their partnership.
She identified four major sectors with particularly strong potential for future cooperation.
Smart Cities and Infrastructure Development
Modern infrastructure is one of the most promising areas for collaboration.
Projects such as Kuwait’s Silk City and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port could provide opportunities for international investment, engineering expertise and advanced technological solutions.
China’s experience in developing large-scale infrastructure and smart urban systems could contribute to Kuwait’s efforts to diversify its economy and strengthen its position as a regional commercial hub.
Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development
Clean energy is another important area for expanding bilateral cooperation.
Al-Anoud highlighted opportunities in solar and wind power, noting that sustainable energy development is becoming increasingly important for countries seeking long-term economic resilience.
Cooperation in renewable energy technology, energy efficiency and sustainable infrastructure could help both countries pursue their environmental and development objectives.
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology
Digital transformation is expected to play an increasingly important role in China-Kuwait relations.
Artificial intelligence, fifth-generation mobile networks and cloud computing were identified as key sectors where stronger partnerships could create new opportunities.
Such cooperation could support the modernization of public services, improve business efficiency and encourage innovation across different industries.
Cybersecurity is another important priority. Al-Anoud suggested that China’s technological expertise could help Kuwait strengthen digital protection, safeguard critical infrastructure and improve early-warning capabilities for ports and oil facilities.
Trade and Logistics Cooperation
Kuwait’s geographical position between Asia and the Middle East offers opportunities to expand trade connections and logistics services.
Al-Anoud emphasized the importance of investment in transportation infrastructure, commercial networks and supply-chain facilities.
Stronger connectivity could help Kuwait enhance its role in regional trade while creating additional opportunities for Chinese businesses and investors.
People-to-People Exchanges Strengthen Friendship
Beyond economic and technological partnerships, Al-Anoud stressed that closer relations between the people of both countries are essential for sustainable cooperation.
She called for greater cultural interaction, educational exchanges and stronger connections between communities.
According to her, deeper understanding between Chinese and Kuwaiti citizens can create a stronger foundation for long-term friendship and mutual trust.
The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, China Media Group and the Kuwait-China Friendship Club.
As China and Kuwait celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations, growing cooperation across infrastructure, clean energy, digital technology and trade could provide fresh momentum to their partnership and support their respective development ambitions.
