The initiative places particular emphasis on educating adolescents and young adults about the serious consequences of tobacco use and motivating them to adopt healthier lifestyles.

District Administration Calls for Collective Action

Addressing the gathering, the District Collector drew attention to the harmful effects of tobacco products and other intoxicating substances on individual health and society.

The Collector urged government officials, educational institutions, community organisations and citizens to work together to achieve the objective of making Subarnapur a tobacco-free district.

Highlighting the vulnerability of young people to tobacco addiction, the Collector stressed that awareness and preventive action must begin at an early stage. Creating an informed younger generation, the Collector noted, is essential for building a healthier future.

Schools and Colleges to Become Key Awareness Centres

An important aspect of the campaign will be the expansion of awareness activities across schools, colleges and youth organisations.

During the launch programme, participants discussed strategies for taking anti-tobacco messages to educational institutions and engaging students in awareness-building initiatives.

The proposed activities are intended to help young people understand the health risks associated with tobacco consumption and make informed decisions to stay away from addictive substances.

Involving youth organisations is also expected to strengthen community outreach and encourage students to become ambassadors of healthy living.

Health Officials Participate in Campaign Launch

The inauguration programme witnessed the participation of the Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer, District Public Health Officer, officials from different government departments and district-level representatives.

Health Department staff members were also present, reflecting the importance of coordinated efforts in implementing the campaign.

The participation of different departments is expected to support wider awareness initiatives and strengthen the district’s approach towards tobacco prevention.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by the guests and officials to remain away from tobacco products and discourage their consumption among others.
