Major Decisions in Modi Cabinet Meeting: DA Hike for Central Employees, MSP Increase for Farmers
In the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, significant announcements were made to benefit both central government employees and farmers. While central employees were granted a 3% hike in their Dearness Allowance (DA), farmers received a major Diwali gift with an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi crops.
MSP Hike for Wheat and Mustard
The government has revised the MSP for Rabi crops for the 2025-26 marketing season. The MSP for wheat has been increased by ₹150 per quintal, raising it from ₹2,275 to ₹2,425 per quintal. Similarly, the MSP for mustard has been raised by ₹300 per quintal, now standing at ₹5,950 per quintal, up from ₹5,650.
MSP Increase for Chickpeas (Gram)
In addition to wheat and mustard, the MSP for chickpeas (gram) has also been increased by ₹210 per quintal, making the new price ₹5,650 per quintal, up from ₹5,440. These decisions are aimed at boosting farmers’ income and encouraging higher agricultural production.
The government’s announcements are expected to provide significant relief to farmers, especially ahead of the festive season, while also strengthening their economic standing.
