Residents of Delhi woke up to a blanket of thick fog on Saturday morning, with visibility significantly reduced across the city. The dense fog added a wintery charm to the capital but also disrupted morning routines for commuters.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature at Safdarjung dropped to 8 degrees Celsius in the early hours of Saturday. By 8:30 AM, Safdarjung had recorded a further dip to 7.6 degrees Celsius, reflecting the chill gripping the city. Palam, another prominent weather station, recorded a slightly higher minimum temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius at the same time.

The maximum temperature for the day is predicted to hover around 23 degrees Celsius, providing some respite from the biting cold. However, the combination of low temperatures and heavy fog has raised concerns about air quality and travel delays in the region.

The IMD has advised residents to take precautions during their morning commute, particularly due to low visibility on roads. The foggy conditions are also expected to impact rail and air travel, with potential delays or cancellations.

The current weather conditions are attributed to a combination of high humidity levels and calm winds, typical during this time of year. With temperatures dipping steadily, Delhiites are bracing for a colder week ahead.

Stay tuned for updates as the winter chill continues to make its presence felt across the city.
