Starting Friday, a reserved holiday special train has been introduced on the world heritage Kalka-Shimla railway track, which connects the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, with Kalka. The Indian Railways launched this service in anticipation of the New Year and winter season, aiming to offer added convenience for tourists visiting Shimla.
On its first day, the train welcomed 81 passengers who traveled from Kalka to Shimla. This special train service will be available for tourists until February 28, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free journey for those heading to Shimla during the peak tourist season.
According to railway officials, train number 52443 will depart from Kalka at 8:05 AM and reach Shimla by 1:35 PM. On its return journey, the reserved holiday special will leave Shimla at 4:50 PM and arrive in Kalka at 9:45 PM. The train will make stops at several scenic locations along the way, including Dharmpur, Barog, Solan, Kandaghat, and Summerhill.
This initiative is part of the railway’s efforts to enhance tourism and provide an enjoyable travel experience for visitors, while also preserving the charm of the historic Kalka-Shimla railway route.
