The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE), under the National Water Mission (NWM) and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, collaborated with the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) to organize a one-day workshop titled “Water Use Efficiency: Strategies for a Sustainable Future”. The event, focused on enhancing water use efficiency in the domestic sector, was held at the NDMC Convention Centre, Palika Kendra, Sansad Marg, New Delhi.
Event Highlights
The workshop was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C R Patil, who emphasized the government’s dedication to water conservation. In his address, Shri Patil highlighted the importance of innovative strategies and collaborative efforts in addressing water challenges across the country.
Keynote speaker, the Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD&GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti, underscored the significance of multi-sectoral partnerships in achieving water efficiency goals. He also shed light on various policy initiatives aimed at sustainable water management.
Focus Areas
The workshop revolved around critical topics such as:
- The adoption of low-flow fixtures and smart sanitary ware to minimize domestic water consumption.
- Policy measures to enhance water use efficiency.
- Technological advancements in water conservation.
- Collaborative efforts between government bodies, industries, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
More than 20 experts and speakers shared their insights through presentations and discussions, offering innovative solutions to optimize water use in the domestic sector.
Participation
The workshop saw participation from over 350 stakeholders, including representatives from line ministries, water sector industries, NGOs focused on water management, and policymakers. This diverse representation enabled rich discussions and the exchange of ideas to address pressing water challenges.
