Delhi Police to File Chargesheet in MCOCA Case Linked to Gangster Kapil Sangwan by February 24

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has informed the Rouse Avenue Court that it will submit a chargesheet against two accused, Rohit alias Anna and Sachin Chikara, by February 24 in connection with a case registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The case is linked to notorious gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu.
Arrests and Judicial Proceedings
Rohit alias Anna and Sachin Chikara, both currently in judicial custody, were arrested in November 2024 for their alleged involvement in an organised crime syndicate led by Kapil Sangwan. In a related development, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan was also apprehended on December 4, 2024, in connection with the case and remains in custody.
The court is also reviewing a chargesheet filed against another accused, Ritik alias Peter. After hearing arguments presented by Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Akhand Pratap Singh, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja has directed him to submit a brief note on the issue of cognizance within two days. The court has reserved its order on taking cognizance of the chargesheet against Ritik until February 24.
Organised Crime Syndicate and Investigation
The case revolves around the criminal operations of Kapil Sangwan, who is currently absconding. Sangwan is accused of running a well-organized crime syndicate involved in serious criminal activities. Delhi Police has invoked MCOCA, a stringent law aimed at curbing organised crime, against him and his associates.
The legal proceedings are progressing as the authorities continue their crackdown on the syndicate. With multiple accused already in custody and the chargesheet against two of them set to be filed soon, the case is expected to unfold further in the coming weeks.
The next hearing, scheduled for February 24, will determine whether the court takes cognizance of the chargesheet against Ritik alias Peter. Meanwhile, investigations into the syndicate’s operations are ongoing, with law enforcement agencies working to bring absconding accused Kapil Sangwan to justice.
