New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court on Monday recorded the testimony of the husband of a woman wrestler in the ongoing case against former BJP MP and ex-chief of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The accused, who is facing trial over allegations of sexual harassment, appeared before the court for the proceedings.
The statement was recorded in a closed courtroom, ensuring confidentiality. However, the complete recording of the testimony was not concluded and has been postponed to the next scheduled hearing.
Court Proceedings and Key Developments
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Vaibhav Chaurasia conducted the chief examination of the prosecution witness. The court has scheduled the continuation of this process for March 25.
During the hearing, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Atul Srivastava represented the Delhi Police and oversaw the recording of the evidence. The witness arrived at the court at 2 PM, and his statement was recorded for over two hours.
On the defense side, Advocate Rajiv Mohan, accompanied by Advocate Rehan Khan, represented Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Court’s Decision on Witness Testimony
Recently, the court accepted an application from the accused, seeking to record the testimony of the husband of the main witness in the case. Following this decision, the court deferred the evidence recording process, leading to the ongoing proceedings.
The case continues to draw attention as the trial progresses, with further developments expected in the next hearing.
